Based on a true story
An aging woman makes one final attempt to discover her real father to complete her family’s legacy and she uncovers a tragic story of bravery during World War II.
BARBARA has been on a lifelong search for her real father in an effort to drown the voice of an abusive stepfather. In the Autumn of her life, she makes one last effort to find him.
CHARLES, a young man with the courage of a thousand men, is ready for battle in WWII. Then he learns of his newborn child, who waits for his return, and he’s determined to survive for her.
At age 79, Barbara Sussman has had only one dream her entire life, to find her real father. Knowing who he was will complete Barbara’s life story and that of her family. Charles, decades earlier, sensing his fate as a soldier in World War II, manages to write a letter to the daughter he’s never met.
After nearly 80 years, the long-lost letter makes it to his daughter connecting her with her real father, closing a long, painful chapter in her life. After years of wondering his fate, she learns he was killed as a prisoner of war but died - a hero.
Letters in Barbed Wire tells the true story of how a simple letter connected a father and daughter, separated by decades and an ocean, allowing each of them to find a peace knowing the other had been there all along.
