Dead Reckoning

Full-Length Feature | Drama
Inspired by true events

A troubled air traffic controller makes a desperate attempt to safely talk down a wayward airport worker who steals a commuter jet before it’s shot down by the military.

Moving on from a painful moment in life can be paralyzing, and for some, relief never comes. But for a few it arrives through remembering where we’ve been, learning from it, and moving to a new, better place in life.

Dead Reckoning is the story based on true events of two men on different but similar paths. Jack tries to move on from the most painful and tragic moment of his life and Rich is trying to hear himself one last time in a world of noise. They are both frozen in the moment, incapable, they think, of moving on.

The story is a composite of one night in Seattle involving an Orca unable to give up her dead calf, Jack desperately trying to free himself from the pain of his son’s death, a Pearl Jam concert where thousands of lives could be in danger, and Rich who is clinging to the precipice of life and decides to hijack a plane.

Both men look back on their lives hoping to learn from the past to get to somewhere new. In flight terminology, it’s called Dead Reckoning – using information about where you’ve been to chart your path to where you want to go.

Dead Reckoning can remind people they’re not alone in their painful journeys and that there’s a path to move on.
